Athens, GA (3/18/16)

Although Georgia's poverty rates have steadily declined in recent years, those of Clarke County, home to Athens, Georgia, have actually increased. In fact, excluding the population of the students in University of Georgia, Clarke County's poverty rate is 23.5%. Shocked by these statistics, we approached teenagers in Athens, GA and presented about this poverty, including general poverty and healthcare poverty, and hopefully made a difference in the way teenagers look at the homeless. We were delighted to actually see one of the people whom we talked to give food to one of the homeless adults on the street a little bit after we had approached him.

Sunrise at Johns Creek (4/10/16)

More than 25 million Americans above the age of 60 are economically insecure. Consequently, they have difficulty in dealing with billing, nutrition and healthcare. Although many are covered by Medicare, there are still thousands of homeless elderly living in poverty. To help bridge this gap in inequality, we presented about this disparity among the members of the Sunrise at Johns Creek, an assisted living center located in Johns Creek, GA. Doing so helped us spread our cause among senior citizens.

Inspiring Change in California (5/20/16)

Through our networking and web-based platforms, we have been able to inspire change in California. In May 2016, Tiffany Tong, a freshman at Oakland Technical High School in Oakland, California, learned about First Aid For All and our efforts to try to bridge the gap between first aid education and underprivileged families. She conducted a survey in the Bay Area and ascertained that 61% of low-income families do not own a first aid kit. And 60% of all survey participants have never been taught how to apply first aid in a classroom setting. She was shocked to see such numbers and began to ask herself that if this many people do not own or know how to use a first aid kit then there must be many more people in places like Myanmar, Liberia, Malawi, and many more who do not know how to use first aid kits. Since then, she has shown leadership by organizing a petition to send to
  • CEO of Kaiser Permanente
    Bernard Tyson
  • CEO of UCSF Medical Center
    Mark R. Laret
  • CEO of John Muir Medical Center
    Calvin Cal Knight
Please join the 50+ people who have already signed the petition and support her cause at https://www.change.org/p/bernard-tyson-ceo-of-kaiser-permanente-first-aid-for-the-underprivileged! We are happy to have inspired a fellow philanthropist and are eager to see her progress!

Council of Auxiliaries and Volunteers of the Georgia Hospital Association Youth Camp Presentation (7/16/16)

Every summer, the Council of Auxiliaries and Volunteers of the Georgia Hospital Association hosts a residential two-night healthcare camp in the Rock Eagle 4-H Center for hospital volunteers. The camp offers various guest speakers and activities related to the healthcare field. Youths from seven different hospitals represented their area by coming there. They came from all over the state-- some even came from the Georgia-Alabama border and the Georgia-Florida border to attend the conference. This year, First Aid For All's Amal Bhatnagar was invited as a guest speaker to talk about FAFA and its success so far. Being the only teenager to present, he spoke along with neurosurgeons, pediatricians, and even college professors. He presented in front of 60 high school volunteers, chaperones, and Hospital Auxiliary Directors. Amazed by First Aid For All's progress, numerous audience members invited Amal Bhatnagar to speak at their hospitals later in the year.

Northside Hospital Presentation (7/21/16)

First Aid For All was invited to speak at a Northside Hospital Presentation. FAFA members Abhi Yamani, Neha Chaparala and Mira Patel spoke about global medical poverty and FAFA's methodology to alleviate this paramount issue. Other FAFA members who attended were NIcole Mistry (Photographer) and Nithin Reddy (Videographer). These FAFA members presented to 25 doctors, hospital volunteers, and adults. Doing so not only helped spread our message but also increased interested among the community.

World Humanitarian Day with Microsoft (8/19/16)

"Every day, humanitarian aid workers stand on the front lines of war and disaster, braving tremendous dangers and difficulties to deliver assistance to those who need it most. World Humanitarian Day (WHD), which takes place every year on 19 August, recognizes the aid workers who risk their lives in humanitarian service, and mobilizes people to advocate for humanitarian action. The day was designated by the General Assembly seven years ago to coincide with the anniversary of the 2003 bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq." (United Nations).

On August 19, First Aid For All joined this global initiative boosting community awareness and advocacy with Microsoft. First Aid For All and Microsoft set up a booth in highly populated area to attract people around the area to learn more about our joint effort in helping the 130 million people throughout the world who need humanitarian assistance. Through this event that was initiated by the United Nations, not only did First Aid For All introduce such philanthropic ideas around the area, but it also encouraged people to take action to help others in other ways. First Aid For All's Amal Bhatnagar met a wide range of people from public health graduates to young teenagers, all of whom came to the stall feeling indifferent but left it thinking about ways to help.

Will To Live, a nonprofit organization that spreads awareness about mental health, organizes an annual concert for high school students called WillStock. We had the special opportunity to speak in front of the entire audience and set up a booth to spread awareness about the health gap and our efforts to alleviate it. Our partnership with Will To Live helped support both of our initiatives!

Annual VIBHA Dream Mile (9/16/16)

We had the opportunity to set up a booth at the Annual VIBHA Dream Mile, a philanthropic marathon  in which the proceeds received go towards paying for children's education in India. At this event, we approached participants and families about our nonprofit. We spread interest and recruited numerous volunteers for our future events.
