Sunrise at Johns Creek (4/10/16)

We volunteered at Sunrise at Johns Creek, an assisted living center for the elderly. Here, we entertained the residents by playing BINGO, asking Trivia and feeding ice cream. It was an enjoyable experience for us in which we got to see how senior citizens live and go on with their days. Imagine how those without any of these luxuries would survive. That unfortunate thought drives us to continue our projects.

Hosted CPR/AED Certification Workshop (4/15/16)

Picture
Every year, about 383,000 people suffer from cardiac arrest. Surprisingly, 88% of cardiac events occur at home. The American Heart Association cites that 70% of Americans do not feel useful in emergency situations either because they do not know how to do CPR or have not trained recently. To lower this outstanding statistic, First Aid For All worked with Northview High School to host a CPR Certification seminar in which high school students were invited for CPR training. The recruited teenagers learned how to properly work with CPR and AED; we hope now they can save peoples' lives if needed.

Georgia Association of Physicians of Hindu Heritage (6/18/16)

OMillions of Americans do not have health insurance or come from low income backgrounds. They face obstacles in receiving proper healthcare benefits and doctor check ups. On June 18th, First Aid For All's Soumil Nariani volunteered at Georgia Association of Physicians of Hindu Heritage to help join in on efforts to give people free primary care diagnosis and consultation. The clinic and he focused on dentist consultation, minimal cost for lab work, discounted rate for medications and flu shot, and referral to specialists at a discounted fee.

One of the patients Soumil Nariani worked with was a person who came in was recently unemployed with worsening eyesight. His glasses and prescription were 4-years old. Instead of looking at the eye, the doctor asked was "Are you a diabetic?" He was, and he had not been controlling his blood sugar. The doctor asked if he had a degree. He did; he majored in theology. Immediately Dr. Sampath pulled out his phone and gave him every contact he had that worked at an Indian, Christian church. Not only did the doctor heal his body, but he potentially healed the man's life.

First Aid For All worked with 25 patients, 4 doctors and 1 nurse during this experience. Our commitment to healthcare has now expanded from just the homeless to those without proper health coverage!

Nicholas House (9/3/16)

The Nicholas House provides supportive services through its  shelter on Boulevard Avenue, its scattered-site apartment rapid re-housing program Homeless to Homes (H2H), and its newly launched New Horizons program for chronically homeless families. All families have up to two years of follow-up support after leaving direct services.
Nicholas House understands that providing basic subsistence – food and shelter – is necessary but not sufficient to prevent most homeless families from becoming homeless again. Three main goals and three unique factors make Nicholas House an incredibly special place where positive, lasting change happens.

We sponsored a meal for 26 different individuals and passed out first aid kits to the establishments' residents.

BAPS Free Clinic (9/25/16)

Throughout the year, BAPS Mandir Atlanta hosts a free clinic for the community. Uninsured and underprivileged people throughout the area come by for free check ups. First Aid For All had members from different schools assisting in running the event. We personally helped 43 people in their checkups.
